Colegio Joyfe strives to meet a very high academic level with the majority of students continuing to the end of the Baccalaureate and achieving a 100% pass rate for the University Entrance exam. It is also possible to study vocational courses after the age of 18, so students can opt for the non-university route.
We offer all the core subjects you would expect with a special focus on English which the children start learning at the age of 2. We consider ourselves to be a Bilingual school but we achieve this by offering an increased number of English classes rather than teaching fundamental science subjects in English. However, at different stages throughout the school, we teach PE, music and art in English.
We offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities at lunchtime and after school. We also have a very active group of solidarity students who are constantly raising both money and awareness for less fortunate areas of society, both nationally and internationally.
The school is already participating in 3 KA229 Erasmus+ projects that are proving to be very rewarding experiences. We are always looking at ways to increase awareness of the world at large and interact on an international scale both for the benefit of the students and for the staff. Also, with language learning a key focus of the school, we like to motivate our students by showing them not only that they need languages, but also that they are capable of using them. Erasmus+ projects give us all the chance to form part of something far bigger than the limits of the school walls.
We are not new to International projects, having language exchanges or immersion programs to England, USA, Canada, Ireland, and France up and running. The high level of English of many of our staff as well as of our students means that communication should be easy. We are well supported by the local community and by our families who are always encouraging their children to take part in new adventures.
Our students are mainly aged between 2 and 18 years. However, since we also offer vocational courses in Sport Science and IT, many new students join at the age of 18 to gain these qualifications. We are a competitively priced, city based, private school, chosen by families looking for an internationalised education.
Students can choose to take the American High School Diploma and graduate with both Spanish and American certifications. Since our families make a conscious choice to join our school, they tend to be exceptionally interested and hands-on throughout their child's education. We attract families from different nationalities, both from Europe and further afield.
As a private school we can also cater to students with certain difficulties, and having a nurse on site means that children with dietary restrictions or who need to receive medication throughout the day and who would be excluded in a centre that does not offer this service, are also included and well attended.
